The owner of a kebab shop who was charged with disposing of Charlene Downes’ body has shocked and appalled Channel 5 viewers by claiming he doesn’t care if the teen is alive or dead.
In his first on-camera interview, Mohammed Reveshi admitted he “couldn’t give a toss” about the 14-year-old, who went missing in November 2003.
Reveshi was one of two men suspected of being involved in the disappearance, with police believing the girl was groomed for sex before being killed, chopped up and served in kebab meat.

Speaking on Channel 5’s The Murder of Charlene Downes documentary series, Reveshi was asked if he knew anything about the missing teen and said: “I don’t have any clue about what you’re talking about.
“I don’t care whether she’s alive or dead. I couldn’t give a toss to be honest.”
He went on to say: “As far as I’m concerned I’ve never come across her, I do not know her, I would not recognise her and I’ve never seen her in my life.”
Angry viewers took to Twitter as the scenes unfolded.
One said: “He showed his true colours when he said he couldn’t care less what had happened to Charlene #CharleneDownes.”
Another wrote: “You don’t care that she’s dead. A 14-year-old kid… getting a bit irate to get that point across like… that’s not normal behaviour either.”
A third tweeted: “#CharleneDownes The way that man said he ‘couldn’t give a toss’ about her. That attitude says it all.”
Someone else commented: “This Rez guy on the murder of #CharleneDownes and the way that some of these people are talking when they know the poor girl is dead is just beyond me. How do some people live with themselves #GroomingGangs.”

Reveshi and fellow suspect Iyad Albattikhi were charged and brought before Preston Crown Court, but the jury couldn’t reach a verdict.
A subsequent retrial was dropped as there wasn’t enough evidence for a conviction.
Reveshi was adamant about his innocence throughout the investigation.

But Detective Don Fraser, who also lived near the kebab shop owner, claimed he was a “dangerous man”.
He said: “You have to believe coincidence after coincidence to give Reveshi credibility.
“I think he’s a dangerous man, extremely clever, manipulative and extremely wealthy now.”
