Anyone who’s read JK Rowling’s brilliant Cormoran Strike novels (us, us) was VERY excited about seeing their TV adaptation on Sunday night in the form of Strike: The Cuckoo’s Calling.
But while most things about the show were well-received, one aspect had people up in arms (well, you know, posting on Twitter).
Was it the acting? The closeness of the script to the books themselves? Perhaps the visuals?
Nah, it was the fact that when temp Robin did some research at the detective agency that she was working at, she used BING NOT GOOGLE. Whoa.
One Twitter user posted: “LOL, Robin using Bing to search for Strike, what a rubbish investigator.”
Another wrote: “Noone. Uses. Bing.”
A third wrote: “If your private detective company uses Bing to source information, fire them IMMEDIATELY.”
But the best tweet went to the person that wrote: ‘Bing?! Who uses Bing? To quote my fella, “Not even Chandler uses Bing!”’
Other than that major gap though, viewers were loving the first episode, which features Tom Burke in the role of detective Cormoran Strike and Holliday Grainger as Robin, who starts work as a temp in his office and helps him to investigate the death of Lula Landry.
Strike himself is the son of a famous rock star, and used to be a soldier, losing his leg while fighting in Afghanistan.
One wrote: “I really enjoyed The Cuckoo’s Calling tonight. I can’t wait for tomorrow’s episode!”
A second praised it, saying: ‘great performances from #TomBurke #HallidayGrainger in #Strike #Cuckoo’s Calling’
Another posted: ‘Great first episode for the Cuckoo’s Calling @BBCOne. A brilliant adaption, makes me excited for the next’

Harry Potter creator JK Rowling wrote the book under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith and it was already critically-acclaimed before the truth was leaked about who had written it.
And Rowling herself was chuffed with the reception, tweeting: ‘Thank you so much for your wonderful messages about the TV adaption of #cuckooscalling! Part two airs tonight on @BBCOne at 9pm.’
The Cuckoo’s Calling was the first in the series of books, and is followed by The Silkworm and Career Of Evil. The next one will be called Lethal White.

In the meantime, the BBC adaptation of The Cuckoo’s Calling will keep us going.
