A leading women’s charity has expressed very real concerns over Michael Griffiths’ behaviour towards Amber Gill in Love Island.
ITV2 viewers have turned on the firefighter in recent weeks, after he appeared to manipulate his former flame Amber, who he was coupled up with at the beginning of the ITV2 show.

After several weeks coupled up together in the villa, Amber was devastated when Michael decided to dump her for newcomer Joanna Chimonides.
This was bad enough for the Geordie beautician, but Michael made things 100 times worse by appearing to put the blame for his betrayal on to HER – claiming she had been argumentative and hadn’t allowed him to be himself.
We think that’s called gaslighting, Michael!

However, after Joanna was voted the least popular housemate by the viewing public AND the housemates, 27-year-old Michael was left single again after refusing to follow her…
Now, with no one to cuddle up to at night and Amber, 21, being pursued by another suitor – the very fit rugby player and trainee solicitor Greg O’Shea – Michael has decided he wants Amber back.
Oh, and he’s blaming Joanna!
Unsurprisingly, perhaps, Women’s Aid have expressed their worries over Amber’s mental state and Michael’s ‘abuse’.
In a statement printed on their website, Acting Co-Chief Executive of the charity Adina Claire, said: “Women’s Aid is becoming increasingly concerned about what appear to be unhealthy fledgling relationships being used as entertainment in Love Island.
“Most recently, the programme has shown Amber repeatedly reduced to tears and appearing to have her emotions manipulated.”
She went on to say: “We hope that producers are looking after the wellbeing of the contestants and will step in when any form of behaviour becomes abusive.
“We have been contacted by a number of viewers on social media throughout the series about behaviour they are worried about, involving several contestants, and would ask producers to always take this seriously, and consider the messages being sent to viewers and contestants on the show.”
Michael has been branded a “snake” and much worse by angry viewers, some of whom have even complained to Ofcom.
They were especially appalled when he ordered Amber to “sit down” when he told her once again they were “done”.
Tonight (Friday 19 July), Amber has the difficult decision to make between Michael and Greg in the recoupling.
Will she follow her head or her heart?
