Strange accents, cheesy songs and a dodgy scoring system – yep, The X Factor has all of those things in spades.
So making the transition from the ITV singing show to another event with those qualities – Eurovision – seems perfectly natural.
Which may be why we’re hearing that a former X Factor contestant is in talks to represent the UK at next year’s competition in Portugal.
So who could it be? Wagner? Jedward? Maybe even Honey G? There’s only one way to find out…
That’s right, folks – none other than Saara Aalto. Who’s not actually from the UK (she’s Finnish), but does have a brilliant voice.
And if she does end up getting the gig, that should at least mean we don’t end up with NUL PWA.
Saara, 30, finished second behind Matt Terry in last year’s X Factor. And her efforts must’ve impressed the people behind the UK’s Eurovision entry, because she told The Sun “they really want me to do it”.
She continued: “I love Eurovision, so I’ve been searching for the right opportunity to be part of it.

“It’s just whether I should do it for the UK or Finland or some other country. But the UK is my home now.
“It would be quite fun. Eurovision has always been a dream of mine.”
This year’s Eurovision saw Lucie Jones representing the UK with the song Never Give Up On You.
The Welsh songstress finished a creditable 15th behind the eventual winners Portugal.
Last month, Saara left Simon Cowell’s Syco record label to sign for Warner. And she has high hopes for her future as a recording artist.
“When I met the people at Warner, they were very excited about my style and making me into this big theatrical artist,” she told The Sun.

But it sounds like her ultimate dream is taking that crown at Eurovision, following in the footsteps of Bucks Fizz, Katrina and the Waves et al.
Come on, Saara, we’re all rooting for you!
