X Factor stars reveal ‘weird’ set-up at this year’s house, as they adjust to cruel live show twist

There's a lot of changes for acts to deal with

| Updated:

Some shock changes have been revealed to the format of this year’s X Factor live shows but that’s not the only unusual thing the contestants have to deal with.

On today’s Lorraine, the finalists in Nicole Scherzinger’s overs category opened up about what it’s like for all the acts  to live together in a share house.

Speaking to showbiz reporter Dan Wootton, Matt Linnen and Kevin Daly White said their bedroom set-up has taken some getting used to.

Father-of-three Matt revealed: “We are in bunk beds! It was a bit of a culture shock being big boys, Kevin has just turned 30 so it is a bit weird.

“He’s got top bunk and I’m on the bottom as I like to spread out! We’re lucky to be there though so we can’t moan.”

Matt has only recently revealed that he has three children as he said he wants to protect their privacy.

He said: “It’s me in the public eye, not them so I wanted to keep them away. They are very excited and keep drawing pictures of me with a big X.”

Their fellow overs  team mate Tracy Leanne Jefford said she’s also adjusting to living without her three children while on The X Factor.

She said: “It is tough. My kids are my whole world. They are with my mum who is my rock so I know they are safe.

“We FaceTime six times a day so I know they are alright.”

Dan spoke to the three contestants as they rehearsed for the first live show tomorrow.

The three might not be able to get too comfortable in the shared house as one of them could be booted off the show tomorrow.

In a dramatic shake-up of the usual format, tomorrow night the overs will perform against Simon Cowell’s groups and then the public will vote for who they want to go.

Then on Sunday night, the girls and the boys will perform and the public vote will reopen with the least popular act again being sent home.

This eliminates the usual sing-off and instead the two most popular acts as voted by the public will perform again to win “a money can’t buy” prize.

Dermot O’Leary said he’s looking forward to the new set-up as it will “spread the excitement over the whole weekend.”

Meanwhile, it was also revealed that Liam Payne and Stormzy will take to the stage perform.
